One thing I’m really proud of this year is my journalism essay for humanities class. I’m proud of it because I felt that it was a fairly good essay - it’s definitely better than essays I have written in the past. I actually went out and gathered information and research outside of school. We got some good pictures of the skatepark for our project and we got really good information about the history of the property. The teamwork and working on it together really helped because it was kind of difficult trying to do it on my own and working on it with someone else made it come out as a better project.
I’m also really proud of “This I Believe” essay for humanities class. I think I did such a good job because I really connected to it. I had something I really cared about to write about. Most of the time when I have a writing project I don’t really connect to it or care for it. Usually I don’t want to do it because there’s a lot of work to be put into it. One reason I really liked this project is because it was about my beliefs, and something that really has to do with me. My article was called “My Music, My Choice” and it was about Insane Clown Posse, and how people used to harass me because of the music I listen to. Because I liked the topic, I actually got the essay done and it’s actually a pretty good article in my opinion. I shared my opinions and my thoughts about how people treat other people out there, and I got to talk about some of the stuff I want to talk about.
I struggled in math class because I wasn’t really sure what was going on most of the time in class. Many of the things were brand new to me, and it takes me longer to memorize math concepts. I could have definitely asked more questions and talked to Dan more about what we were doing. I know there were a lot of assignments we did in class that I could have finished if I would have just talked to Dan and asked him to explain it again or to show me how to do it differently. I could have captured some of it if I had asked for help. Because I didn’t ask questions I fell behind, and I’m still behind in class because of that.
How can I get myself working on days that I don’t feel like doing anything?
